I know that my sleaze tolerance is pretty high when I come from a state where high ranking public officials have to face criminal charges before it's a scandal, but it's not as though spreading rumours about your opponent is exactly anything new in politics.<br /><br />In truth, Americans buy into negative campaigning more than the British do. After all, the Swift Boat ads would not have even been possible in the UK.
